Main subjects of research carried out by the Center are;

• Mechanical control engineering
• Instrumentation technique
• Composite metallic materials for their testing
• Environmental chemistry
• Computer-aided engineering
• Image processing technology etc.

The results obtained are transferred to local manufacturers as quickly as possible.
Joint research projects with private enterprises, universities and other public institutes are in progress.

Technical Consultation and Guidance

The Center is ready to help companies out of their technical problems through its Technical Advisory System, in which both its staff and outside experts are in charge of consultaion either at the Center or by on-site inspection.
Training courses are provided for the employees of companies to make them acquainted with the use of various equipment kept at the Center.

Testing and Analysis Service and the Offer of Facilities to the Public

Analyses of materials and the measuring and testing of industrial products are carried out at the Center on request from private and public organizations.

Private companies and persons can use the instruments of the Center for their own research and technical development, process improvement and quality control of products at reasonable charges.

Technical Information

A training course of technology is help every autumn to provide an opportunity for the exchange of information between different sectors. Lectures, symposia and open-house demonstration are also held during the course.
Publishing is one of the most important functions of the Center. Annual reports, research reports and newsletter (Techno-News) are distributed widely to the industrial circle of Shiga prefecture and to industrial research organizations in other parts of Japan.
The Center is provided with a library of books, reference paper, journal and other information relevant to industrial technology.
